Brain Chord Podcast

Brain Chord is brought to you by CreateConvergence, a creative collaboration between award winning visual artist Angela Chao, award winning poet Susan Ksiezopolski, with music provided by Anthony Barr, a gifted Native flute player, who aids in the connection of the soul and Spirit.

Brain Chord represents three artists working with different art forms, in harmony to explore the role of art as a creative outlet for emotional and mental hygiene.

Art creates a bridge opening the space for conversations that create connections. This is why art has the power to uplift and motivate us. The imagination of other artists, poets, and musicians touches us. Through creative expression, we can see a part of ourselves we cannot give voice to. This helps us to validate our shared humanity. Art is how we make sense of our world and express who we are in it.

We will explore the impact of combining music, art and poetry on our brains’ wellbeing. When music, poetry and art connect it stretches and shifts our self-expression to a new dimension and supports our wellbeing.   The merging of arts is a tool for creative expression that energizes and restores us. When we express vs. depress how we feel we support our brain health. When we express our emotions it liberates us.

Brain Chord podcasts are meant to expand our awareness and alter perceptions of our world and our selves. The purpose of our podcasts is to create the space for healing, fuelling engaging conversations to educate and create connections.

One of the hardest things for us to do is to talk about and communicate our emotions, yet emotional literacy, understanding our emotions is an important component of our overall well-being.  Expressing emotions is healthy.  As artists our role is to express what others are not able to express.  Anais Nins’ quote says this best “The role of a writer is not to say what we all can say, but what we are unable to say.”

Brain Chord is meant to be a backdrop to inspire and begin conversations about what motivates artists to create, regardless of their chosen medium, be it canvas and paint, pen and paper or instruments and music. We will explore how creativity feeds our resilience and allows us to share our feelings, in order for us to thrive and to put our mind at ease.

Our themes and topics will focus on raising awareness, inspiring others to find own creative outlet and fuel their own creativity. We will share stories that spark conversation about how art can be a powerful tool for resilience.
